With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Wicked) and a book by Roger O. Hirson, PIPPIN tells the profoundly human story of a man as he strives to rise above the mundane and to achieve something exceptional. Schwartz’s timeless pop-tinged music (featuring “Magic to Do,” “Corner of the Sky,” “I Guess I’ll Miss the Man,” “Morning Glow,” and more) underscores and heightens Pippin’s journey of self-discovery through war, sex, politics, and love, ushered along by a mysterious but encouraging troupe of players. Deceptively lighthearted at face value, the musical’s tone quickly shifts and ultimately challenges the audience with one question: how far are you willing to go to be extraordinary?
