Cabaret’s 2020-2021 Season

***This page was last updated for the 2020-2021 Season. At the present moment, performances are held IN PERSON, MASKED, and patrons MUST BE VACCINATED***

As many of you may have seen by now, Rutgers University has released its plan for approaching education for the coming semester, specifically to have most instruction held virtually, with only select classes being held in-person. This also includes the continuation of their choice last year regarding the suspension of in-person campus events, which will continue into the Fall 2020 semester. We are, just as you may be, disappointed that we are not able to return to our normal schedule of activities, but we are understanding about the decision, as the health and safety of our community must take priority.

To begin, Cabaret Theatre will, without doubt, continue to produce theatrical works in the Fall 2020 semester. This will be a time for us to experiment with new and interesting formats of theatrical experiences, including virtual performances of Rutgers Night Live, Cafe Cabaret, and other theater festivals that are well loved at Cabaret Theatre, and perhaps venture into new territory. This time will also hopefully allow us to expand our community and introduce the world of Cabaret Theatre to a larger audience, and thus be able to reach out to and welcome many more newcomers.

We thank you for your continued patience with us as the University, and the world, change around us, and we continue to adjust and adapt. Please stay tuned for more updates as we solidify plans for the semester, and we hope that we will see you very soon!

According to the University :

Will there be any on-campus programs or events?

In an abundance of caution, there will be no in-person student gatherings, events, or programs held on campus until university guidelines stipulate that it is safe to do so.

Will any student life activities be available virtually?

A resounding yes! The Division of Student Affairs will provide an innovative array of virtual programs and experiences for students to remain connected and involved in a COVID-19 environment. This includes virtual recreation events and remote programs, events, and leadership development opportunities hosted by Student Centers and Activities and our 450+ student organizations.
