How Do I Get Involved?

If you have decided to get involved with a theatre group on campus, then Cabaret is your place! Cabaret offers a plethora of opportunities to do all of the various tasks that are involved in creating a production!

Actors & Actresses:

Are you an actor or actress looking to show off your talent on stage? Cabaret Theatre has so many opportunities to act in a production. Our company has 4 mainstage productions each year and other special events too! We select a good variety of straight plays and musicals so anyone can have a chance to get on stage. Cabaret Theatre always has a least one musical in the mainstage lineup each season. If you are an instrumentalist that would like to play in the band ensemble for a show Cabaret would love to hear you! Prospective Directors:

Is directing your calling? Do you have an artistic vision for a show you'd like to create? Cabaret is the only place on campus where you can propose a show and direct it too! Proposal applications are due in the academic year prior to the one you want to direct in. However, there are always opportunities to direct special events throughout the year. Directors' Showcase is a great opportunity for first time directors to learn about creating a show from the bottom, up. Whatever your interest in directing is, you can always find an opportunity at Cabaret. Please email the Artistic Director ( to inquire about opportunities to direct!

Production Staff:

Cabaret Theatre is an all student run organization, meaning that the entire production staff of a show is filled with students! Cabaret has many shows in our seasons that need tons of staff to successfully aide in the various aspects of the show. Open positions are, Assistant Directors, Stage Managers (and their assistants), Music Directors, Choreographers, Props Managers, Costume Designers, Sound Designers, and more depending on the demand of the show! Each show needs a good staff to make the show successful so please look to our social media or newsfeed page to learn about open positions. Tech Crew, Lighting, & Sound:

Tech Crew is great because even if you are not experienced in building a set, running a light board, or operating the sound board, you are still welcome to come and learn! Cabaret Theatre has a demand for set builders and other technical theatre junkies who are willing to work hard and have fun behind the scenes! If you have experience or not, please email our Managing Director ( with any questions or to express interest in joining our tech crew! 


Ushering a performance at Cabaret means you will be greeting patrons and collecting their tickets. Although it seems like a simple way to get involved, its a crutial one! As an usher you will be hosting our loyal patrons and making them feel excited and welcome to our space! You are the link between the company and the customers! Additionally, anyone who ushers will be allowed to see that performance for free! If you would like to usher or work the box office please email our box office manager ( with your interest!
