Propose a Back-to-School Revue!

Hey there Cabaret-ers!

Did you love last year's revue? Want to direct one of your own? Now's your chance! Once again, Cabaret Theatre is teaming up with our friends at The Livingston Theatre Company to create a combined production that showcases the awesome talent pool of both companies: the Back-to-School Revue!


We are now officially accepting proposals for the Revue. Please refer to the attached packet for detailed instructions on how to submit your ideas. 2016-2017 Main Stage Proposal Packets Now Available!

Hey, everyone!!!

As we get ready to say goodbye to the 2015-2016 school year, we can't help but think about all of the amazing moments that took place in student theatre this year. Thank you to the dedicated performers, production staffs, and patrons who helped make this year one to remember!

With that being said, we are excited to announce that we are now accepting main stage proposals for the upcoming 2016-2017 school year! All proposals will be due 11:59 p.m. on June 13th. Please note that there are several differences in this proposal packet than in years past, if you have any questions regarding these changes or the proposal in general, please reach out to the Producer, Emily Reineke at producer.cabarettheatre@gmail.com and/or the Artistic Director Kat Beliavski at artistic.cabarettheatre@gmail.com.

CALL TO AUDITION: RNL XIII

We're getting ready for the 2016-2017 season! Rutgers Night Live is hosting auditions for our RNL Episode XIII! If you love all things Saturday Night Live and sketch comedy-ish, then this is something you don't want to miss! Whether you're more of a performer or a writer, we want ALL the funny people to show up!

And that's really it. All you really need to do is show up, and be ready to have fun! 100% no prep is necessary--we will provide you with sides to read. Just bring your RUID and a schedule of classes/conflicts/work/etc.

Performance dates are TBD

Auditions will be at Cabaret Theatre, located at 7 Suydam Street on the Douglass Campus. When are auditions?

April 25th, 2016 from 7:00pm-11:00pm
April 26th, 2016 from 6:00pm-10:00pm
Callbacks will be on April 27th at time TBD.

Nominations for the 2016-2017 Executive Board are Now Open!

We are officially opening nominations for the 2016-2017 executive board! 

Nominations for producer, artistic director, managing director, director of finance, and marketing director must be sent electronically, and you may choose to nominate yourself or another member of the company. The nomination must be seconded and accepted by the candidate before a person can officially run for a position.

If you would like to nominate someone for an executive board position, or if you have any questions regarding the nomination process or voting rights, you may email our producer, Kayla Votapek, and our Artistic Director, Markus Robinson, at producer.cabarettheatre@gmail.com and artistic.cabarettheatre@gmail.com.

Spring is officially here! And with spring arrival, we are winding down the semester and the school year. It’s has been an amazing season, and we want to thank everyone for supporting Cabaret Theatre. But it’s not over just yet. We still have one main stage left, and one question for you all: how do you measure a year?

Jonathan Larson's Rent follows a year in the life of a group of young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Lower East Side. The physical and emotional complications of HIV/AIDS pervade the lives of Roger, Mimi, Tom, and Angel. Maureen deals with her chronic infidelity through performance art; her partner, Joanne, wonders if their relationship is worth the trouble. Benny has sold out his Bohemian ideals in exchange for a hefty income and is on the outs with his former friends. Mark, an aspiring filmmaker, feels like an outsider to life in general. How these young bohemians negotiate their dreams, loves, and conflicts provides the narrative thread to this groundbreaking musical.

It is time for our beloved, Spring semester, Cabaret tradition! It's the 8th Annual Original Play Festival! 

Every year, Cabaret Theatre puts together a play festival that features the works of student playwrights, directed by students, and performed by students. The Original Play Festival not only gives life into new plays, but it is also a celebration of student theatre.
